Jay, a native of Oklahoma, has served on staff at First Baptist Church since March 2004. Jay was called to ministry in 1983 and received his Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma Baptist University and his Master of Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jay and his beautiful wife Jana, love living in Brenham with their two precious daughters, Jaycee and Jenna. They love serving the people of First Baptist Church, working with the church staff, and working with the outstanding Worship Choir, Praise Team, Handbell Choir, Children's Choir, instrumentalists and the entire FBC Worship and Music Ministry.

Some of Jay's musical background includes performing with the Bison Glee Club of OBU, the Consort Singers and Men's Chorus of SWBTS, the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma and in 1986 he was a finalist for the Midwest Regional Finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. Jay is also a percussionist and drummer and has performed with such notable Christian artists as Dennis Jernigan, Steven Curtis Chapman and Joel Engle.

Jay loves to write about worship and some of his writings have been published in the Ultimate Idea Book for Music Ministry and Worship Leader Magazine. His hobbies include being a handyman around the house and being a fan of the 13 time world champion Green Bay Packers.
